Master Social Worker, Psychotherapist, Clinical Traumatologist & Supervisor

Sydney Sheppard comes to the team with a Master’s of Social Work (Advanced Standing: Mental Health and Health) from the University of Toronto, as well as a Bachelor of Social Work from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Sydney is the full-time Social Worker/ Psychotherapist (MSW, RSW) for the Renfrew County Mobile Crisis Team. As such, she specializes in crisis counselling, complex trauma, cluster B personality characteristics, and general emotion dysregulation. Sydney has advanced training as a Clinical Traumatologist from the Traumatology Institute of Canada, and is dedicated to providing effective, strengths-based services in partnership with trauma survivors. Sydney’s practice is informed by the theory of attunement, and mind/body methods in Psychotherapy.

Outside of front-line practice, Sydney is equally committed to field instruction and clinical supervision. Sydney has completed certification through the Canadian Association of Social Work Education (CASWE) as a Field Instructor, as well as City University in Canada as a Clinical Supervisor. At Forging Forward, Sydney provides guidance and direction as a Clinical Supervisor and Consultant to a small team of dedicated therapists.

Sydney is registered (RSW) in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
