Robert Bowman obtained his Social Service Worker Diploma from Algonquin College, Waterfront Campus, in Pembroke, Ontario. He is currently working towards his Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work Degree (IBSW) before pursuing a Master of Social Work. Previous to Forging Forward, Robert has supported individuals at various community organizations and youth centres in the Ottawa Valley.
At FFCS, Robert primarily offers mental health and counselling support to individuals of all ages from children , youth, teens, and adults as well as families, and couples. Robert also has extensive experience working with clients who are living with exceptional needs and require additional support with emotional regulation, interpersonal skills, and distress tolerance.
Robert provides counselling services using a Brief Solution Focused Therapy approach as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and interpersonal relationship skill development for couples or individuals. Additionally, Robert is skilled in supporting individuals who are experiencing depression, anxiety, traumatic experiences, and low self-esteem. He can offer parenting / co-parenting support for caregivers and provide tools for stress-management, setting personal goals, and improving self-confidence for children, youth, and families as a whole.
Robert also has training and experience in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (groups and individual approaches), anger-management, as well as couples counselling through The Gottman Institute. Robert can also support individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQ2S+ and Indigenous communities.
Robert is registered (RSSW) in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
