Erin Oakie comes to the team with a Master’s of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University of Fredericton, New Brunswick, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from MacEwan University of Edmonton, Alberta.
In the past, Erin has supported youth experiencing behavioural, social, emotional, and psychiatric difficulties as a result of an acquired brain injury. Likewise, Erin has supported victims of abuse and their children through advocacy, support, and crisis intervention. Currently, Erin is working as a counsellor at a not-for-profit organization where she supports justice-involved youth.
Erin supports clients by using a client-centered and integrative approach to empower her clients and provide them with the skills needed to improve their mental health.
At forging forward, Erin supports clients by using a combination of tele-health and in-person counselling to deliver effective and evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Dialectic behavioural therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution Focused (Brief) Therapy (SFBT).
